If you are going to go the contemporary route consider carefully all the options available. The most potent enemy is sunlight combined with heat. Hardwood furniture will fade or ‘shadow” itself very easily. Equally so, choice of fabric is very relevant. Leather, or vinyl covered seating will need frequent restorative treatment to combat the effects of sunlight. Fabric furniture covering needs to be of the washable variety because the rooms lend themselves to mud and grass being brought in from the garden.

Ideally, when the room is not in use for prolonged periods it is better to cover the effects with furniture protection blankets.

A conservatory/sunroom in essence can be any room you want it to be. Your choice of furniture will create the mood, ambience and character of the room. As they are rooms that can be used all year round with changing tones or themes, the interior designer hiding inside you can be allowed out to express itself!
