Air conditioning
Perhaps this could be considered a little over the top for Irish homes given the vagaries of our climate but air conditioning units are worthy of consideration in the conservatory, in particular. It need not be warm outside, just sunny, to create uncomfortable heat in a conservatory. In order to control heat in such a situation, you have to open doors or a window, which is self-defeating, the purpose.
Popular units that will cater for the one room are not madly expensive and again are available at all good home dcor stores. If a house is located in, a rural area with a high elevation, then wind is an obvious enemy when trying to enjoy the comfort of your conservatory or sunroom. Leaving windows open is not an option in such a situation because of the discomfort and loss of heat that the wind will cause. For about a cost of 1000 euros plus installation, you can get a good quality air conditioning unit that will fulfil your needs in that room only. Whilst the units themselves are not a pretty sight, especially on an all-glass conservatory, a good fitter can camouflage them with a little imagination.
Again, in the overall cost of quality conservatory or sunroom, the price of fitting an air-conditioning unit where conditions merit it, is worth every penny of the expenditure.
